“Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.”
Henry David Thoreau
I woke at 4 am this morning, like the monks. I got out of bed to turn the heat up and boil the kettle and then I slipped back into the warmth of my quilt and I meditated, listened to the remainder of Jay Shetty’s book, and texted with my best friend. Soon I got up, made my bed and matcha, then curled up to blog. I had to assemble my workstation so I could report to work by 8 am. I enjoyed a long hot shower and marvelled at the sunrise. Today was a great day, a full day, a day started in peace and gratitude and finished in calm and thankfulness.
I woke this morning dreaming of an angry goat and have come to bed while watching a lonely deer slip silently past my house and into the woods. I got a few more steps today and managed to hold my gratitude and positive attitude despite all the pain and uncertainty surrounding the people I care about most. I enjoyed a long catch up with a friend and colleague, which filled me with joyous laughter. I even snorted once.
Today was a really great day! I am able to confidently tick off 10 practices I completed today, a slight improvement over yesterday.
